Peter Smith Trial: Jury in Hilda Owen murder case discharged for third time

THE jury in the trial of a man accused of murdering a Skegby pensioner at her home has been discharged for a third time.

Yesterday, the jury heard the prosecution’s opening statements as well as evidence from the first witnesses in the trial of Peter Kenneth Smith (48) who has denied murdering 71-year-old Hilda Owen at her West Hill home in the early part of 2007.

Last week, two jury panels were discharged shortly after the case had got underway. The fourth jury is expected to be sworn in on Monday.
