Pensioner suffers multiple injuries after hit-and-run near Bolsover

A pensioner is in hospital with multiple injuries after a hit-and-run near Bolsover.

The 78-year-old victim was driving a Nissan Almera along Clowne Road, Stanfree, at 6.40am on Sunday when he was in collision with a Vauxhall Corsa.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said the driver of the Vauxhall Corsa left the scene without stopping.

The victim was taken to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield with hip and leg injuries. He is said to be in a stable condition.

The police spokesman added: "The driver of the Vauxhall Corsa is receiving treatment in hospital for injuries he sustained in the crash. He won't be interviewed until he has recovered sufficiently.

"Witnesses or anyone with information should call Derbyshire police on 101."
