Pedestrian killed by car on Mansfield ring-road was due to marry

Adam Falowski

TRIBUTES have been paid to a bridegroom-to-be who died following a road traffic accident in Mansfield at the weekend.

Adam Falowski, of Wallis Drive, was crossing the road at St Peter’s Way when he was involved in a collision with a grey Vauxhall Corsa on Sunday afternoon.

The 32-year-old, who is from Poland, had been taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre but passed away on Monday.

His partner Patrycja Mazowita, whom he was set to marry in Poland this August, said he had been in to town to buy groceries when the accident happened.

A close friend of Adam, Tomasz Cirug, who worked with him at a sandwich factory in Worksop and would have become Adam’s brother-in-law said that Adam had lived in Mansfield for about 18 months.

“He was a very friendly man, everybody liked him,” he added.

“It has been such a big shock, I was on my way to work when my wife phoned me to say Adam had been in an accident, we couldn’t believe it.

“He had been planning for his wedding, saving money for it, and now he’s gone.”

His partner and family are now planning a funeral in England, followed by cremation with his ashes then flown back to Poland. His mother is set to travel from Poland for the funeral. Meanwhile, the driver of the Corsa was taken to King’s Mill Hospital for minor injuries and later released.

A 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and has been released on bail.

Det Sgt James Greely said: “We are particularly keen to speak to anyone that saw the grey Vauxhall Corsa, and the manner in which it was being driven, prior to the collision.

“We believe the car may have travelled along the A60 south-bound towards St Peter’s Way. “

Anyone with information should phone 101 ext 2229 or 0800 555 111.
