Mac-Stock is being organised by Graham Parker over whole weekend on March 19-20 to say thanks to Macmillan after both his father and sister died of cancer.

And now to say an extra thank you, he has offered 20 free tickets to Macmillan nurses to be special guests at the event, said Graham, originally from Mansfield and now living in Sheffield.

Graham, who was born in Mansfield but now lives in Sheffield, has been amazed at the support he has received from bands and musicians he knows and those he has recently met.

“Our family was fortunate enough to get a lot of support from Macmillan nurses while my dad was battling with cancer,” said Graham. “Without their support and care I’m not sure how we would have coped at times.

“Everyone knows Neville from his days with The Specials, and he will be playing smash hits like Ghost Town, Message to You Rudy and Too Much Too Young.

“I’ve been bowled over by the generosity of people which has allowed me to keep the ticket prices really low.

“Everyone knows someone that has or has had cancer, it’s a vile disease and people have responded accordingly to my call for help – I can’t thank them enough,” said Graham.

Jo Gregg of Macmillan at King’s Mill Hospital said she was touched by the gesture from Mac-Stock: “It is a privilege to be in this role and walk with people in the hours of need and celebrate their victories. It is also amazing to see 20 different bands from all over the country coming to Warsop to support Macmillan; but this personal gesture is really touching and special, I’m sure that everyone who goes to the festival will have an amazing time.” The two day festival on the weekend of March 19-20 showcases 20 live acts, including the Neville Staples Band.
