Noise complaints over rave at former Bevercotes Colliery site
POLICE said on Sunday morning they had received several complaints over a rave at the disused former Bevercotes Colliery site.
A spokesman said: “A large-scale gathering at a former colliery site is ongoing this morning . . . it is unclear how many people are at the site but estimates suggest between 1,000 and 2,000 people are in attendance.”
The rave is being held at the disused site off the B6387 road between Walesby and Retford. No arrests have been made and police have praised local residents for their patience.
Around a dozen cars are parked along the road, but police said they were not currently causing an issue for other motorists. It is believed the rest of the vehicles are parked on the site.
The spokesman added: “Police have received a number of calls regarding the noise from the site and the patience of local residents is very much appreciated.
“A small police presence remains at the scene to ensure the event remains orderly. It is not currently known what time the gathering will come to an end. No arrests have been made.”
