NEW Garibaldi College headteacher Chris James wants to keep the school’s success story going after taking charge this term.

Chris took the reigns just weeks after the Forest Town college achieved very impressive GCSE and A-Level results in August.

The academic year also kicked off with pupils wearing a new uniform after a summer of sport which Chris expects will inspire many students throughout the school year.

“Our key words are pride, respect and achieve and I am pushing for the pupils to be proud of going to Garibaldi College and where they come from and I’ve had lots of good feedback about the uniform,” he said.

“If you look at Laura Trott (20-year-old double Olympic gold medalist), she looks like a sixth former but she was a machine on the track.

“It shows you can become successful, you can achieve your goals if you buy into our structure and use our support.

“Ultimately it is about the pupils being happy, feeling cared for and doing well, so they go into adult life with good attributes.”

Chris says the college’s hardworking staff also buy into the same philosophy.

“We have tremendous staff here who understand what it means to be a part of a team and the pupils ultimately come first and that is the top priority,” he added.
