Methadone addict is given 140 days in jail
A RECOVERING drug addict was handed a 140-day jail term after pleading guilty to two counts of assault and theft.
Sean Michael Vince (28) of Penn Street, Sutton, is already a serving prisoner and appeared before Mansfield magistrates via video link to answer the three charges.
He pleaded guilty to assaulting his former partner by shouting abuse and spitting at her in November.
In December he spat and shouted abuse at a shop keeper who had became suspicious of him and asked him to leave.
He also admitted stealing a bottle of whiskey worth £19 from another shop, Nazran Food and Wine, in Sutton.
Defending, Chris Perry, said his client had a drug dependency problem but had enrolled on a methadone programme to beat his addiction.
