Adrian Fincham, 28, of Old Mill Lane, Forest Town, denied stealing the television and a wall bracket from Sainsburys, in Worksop, on April 12.

But he failed to attend the trial at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on July 21 and was arrested on Monday.

David Verity, mitigating, said: “He said he was at the store waiting for a friend who had his bank card.

“The night before his trial he had been vomiting blood. He went to see the emergency doctor but couldn’t get a sick note.”

The theft put Fincham in breach of a six month community order, imposed in March for shoplifting.

Magistrates gave him a three month community order with a 8pm tp 8am curfew, and ordered him to pay costs of £310 and an £85 victim surcharge.
