Mansfield’s new £9m bus station begins search for video projects

MANSFIELD’S new £9 million bus station opens its doors to the public on Easter Sunday (31st March) and local schools, community groups and businesses are being offered the chance to showcase themselves on a giant video wall inside the new building.

The video wall, measuring four metres by 1.8 metres, is positioned above the main information desk in the waiting area and will be used to highlight Council information, advertisements from local businesses – and artwork from community groups.

With the new station predicted to handle some five million passenger journeys a year – that’s more than East Midlands Airport – the video wall is an ideal platform to show off art work, photographs, animations or videos to thousands of people every week.

The screen will handle all types of media files and any artwork submitted needs to be suitable for showing in a family environment.

The idea is that each month there will be a different theme to artwork being displayed on the wall – with the topic for the first month being “My home town – Mansfield!”

“This really is a chance for local people to showcase their talents,” says project manager Paul Horn.

“Are you the world’s best photographer? Do you make short films that can be shown? Or perhaps you’re an animator looking to show your creations to a wider audience – we want to hear from you!”

Anyone interested in contributing to the video wall should contact Paul Horn on 0115 977 4281 or email paul.horn@nottscc.gov.uk
