Kings Mill Hospital MRI Scanner Appeal launch.

A MANSFIELD community centre will be holding a charity event to raise funds for Chad’s MRI Scanner Appeal.

The event, which takes place at Landsbury Gardens Community Centre off Chadburn Road, will feature raffle prizes, tasty treats, bric-a-brac and a tombola starting at noon on Saturday.

Jean Blackwell, who has helped organise the event, said: “This is a local appeal and is a good cause so we wanted to play our part in raising money. We hold charity events throughout the year and have previously donated to Breast Cancer.”

So far more than £132,000 has been raised for Chad’s life-changing charity campaign, which aims to purchase a state-of-the-art MRI scanner for King’s Mill Hospital, since it was launched on 27th June.

Currently more than 10,000 people a year use the hospital’s exisiting MRI unit.

Hospital staff say a new modernised facility would allow them to provide quicker, safer and more detailed diagnosis and also allow more local people to be treated at King’s Mill.

Donations to our MRI appeal can be made by visiting Chad receptions, calling the customer services department at King’s Mill Hospital on 01623 672222, by visiting Sherwood Forest Hospital’s NHS Trust website, through Just Giving or by cheque.

All cheques should be made payable to Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charitable Funds.

See the Chad website for all the latest news on the MRI Scanner Appeal.
