Mansfield mum's pride for her little hero, 4, who saved her life

Mum-of-two Leanne Kent said she was amazed by her daughter, Amelia Hos, who kept calm and looked after her little brother after she fell unconscious and crashed to the floor.

The 28-year-old, of Mansfield Woodhouse, said: “I was restless and I was watching telly and got stabbing pains in my chest.”

“Then I heard my daughter squealing upstairs like she was having a bad dream, so I ran up stairs and it took my breathe away, and I ended up passing out on her bedroom floor.”

While her mum was unconscious, Amelia went downstairs and phoned for help.

Leanne added: “She rang my mum and she was so good - she said ‘mummy’s on the floor, she’s shaking. I cant wake her up’. She was holding my hand and my mum asked her to go downstairs and unlock the door so the ambulance people could get in.”

Amelia then looked after her little brother Ryli, two, while they waited for paramedics who arrived minutes later. When Leanne woke up, she had no idea her daughter had just saved her life.

She had pneumonia and was struggling to breathe and if she had been on her own, could have been starved of oxygen.

“When they put a mask on me I started breathing again,” she said. “I was disorientated, I didn’t know how they got in and I wanted to know how my kids were. It brought tears to my eyes when I found out what she did and how calm she was. I’m so proud of her.

“She’s my hero, she saved my life,” said the proud mum. A friend who lives on the street, mum-of-three Emma Smith, was also called to the house.

She said: “I got this message and ran straight out the door. I was so shocked and ran straight upstairs, Amelia had already opened the door and Leanne was laid on the floor and she was holding her hand.”

Dad Jonothon Hos, 26, said: “She was fantastic and has made he a very proud dad.”

Paramedics confirmed they attended a report of a woman falling unconscious at the address in Blake Street, Mansfield Woodhouse.

They also praised the amazing efforts by the life-saving toddler.

A spokesman said: “Amelia was very brave during a scary situation, by calling her grandma when she realised her mum was poorly, help was arranged and we were able to get to her as soon as possible.”
