Mansfield HMV store to close

HMV, Four Seasons, Mansfield.

HMV in Mansfield will close down in the next six weeks, it has been announced today.

The collapsed music and DVD retailer went into administration in January and immediately announced the closure of 66 out of its 219 UK stores.

Today administrators Deloitte announced that 37 more shops, including HMV in the Four Seasons Shopping Centre, will close in the next four to six weeks.

HMV has faced increasing competition from online retailers in recent years and is the latest big name High Street name to call in administrators.

“This step has been taken in order to enhance the prospects of the restructured business continuing as a going concern,” said Nick Edwards, one of the joint administrators.

“We are extremely grateful to the staff for their continued strong support and commitment during an understandably difficult period.”
