A MANSFIELD driver has been banned from the roads for nearly two years after being caught drink driving.

Niall Hankinson’s Skoda Fabia was found in Birch Grove in the early hours of 12th January.

There was damage to the front wheel, said Robert Carr prosecuting.

Hankinson (20), of Lindsey Drive, told police he’d been into town for drinks but crashed in icy conditions. He left the car and continued home.

He gave a reading of 83mcg in 100ml of breath, the legal limit is 35mcg.

He was banned for 21 months, fined £230, ordered to pay £85 costs and a £23 victim surcharge.

Judge Tim Devas said: “Driving conditions were difficult, thankfully no one was injured as a result.”
