Services at Mansfield District Council will be disrupted this Thursday, 10th July, due to strike action and the council says it is preparing as well as possible.

It is not yet known what the level of disruption will be but the council says further information will be released as it becomes available.

There will be no recyclable waste (blue bin) and garden waste (brown bin) collections on Thursday.

One bin load of bagged side waste for brown bins and one bin load of side waste in cardboard boxes or recyclable bags for blue bins will be collected on the next scheduled collection day two weeks later.

Trade waste will not be collected but efforts will be made to collect the waste on other days to avoid disruption. Businesses can contact the Trade Waste department on 01623 463092 for further information, which will of course not be available on 10th July.

Walkden Street car park will be closed and the Shopmobility Service will not be available at Walkden Street or the bus station. Season ticket holders at Walkden Street car park can use other council long stay car parks. All other council car parks will remain open as normal.

The lifts in the Four Seasons Shopping Centre are likely to be unavailable due to a reduced number of trained staff to deal with emergencies.

The Four Seasons and Exchange Street toilets at the side of the town hall are likely to be closed.

The housing service will be operating a reduced service and is likely to only be carrying out emergency repairs.

The Palace Theatre, Mansfield Museum, Mansfield Market, crematorium and cemeteries will all be open as normal.

Bev Smith, corporate director of regeneration and regulation at Mansfield District Council, said: “The full impact of the strike is not known at this stage, however we will do all we can to minimise the impact on frontline services and ensure that residents, businesses and visitors are kept up-to-date with information about how our services are affected.”

Other services may be affected on the day and people are advised to visit www.mansfield.gov.uk for the latest information or check the council’s Facebook and Twitter feeds.

In the event of an emergency, people can contact the Council’s 24-hour emergency line on 01623 463 050.
