Man killed in Southwell car crash named

A 40-year-old man who was killed in a three-vehicle collision on Southwell’s Nottingham Road has been named by police as Neil Atkins.

Mr Atkins, who lived in the Newark area, died at the scene of the accident which happened at about 2pm yesterday (Sunday), despite the efforts of paramedics to save him.

Besides Mr Atkins’ silver Mini Cooper, a lorry carrying horses and a silver Ford Zetec were also involved in the collision near Brackenhurst College.

The occupants of the other vehicles sustained minor injuries and the horses being transported in the lorry were unharmed.
