Man in court over attempted robbery at Mansfield shop

A man has been charged following an attempted robbery at a shop in Mansfield last Tuesday.

Steven Mark Smith (20), of Darlton Street, Mansfield, is alleged to have entered the Athishaya Stores in Ladybrook Place, armed with an imitation handgun.

He is accused of threatening shop staff and demanding money before fleeing empty-handed.

No-one was injured in the incident.

Smith was charged with attempted robbery and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit an offence.

He is due to appear before Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning.
