A CHEEKY chappy from Mansfield has been crowned as Chad’s Baby of the Year 2012.
Lewis Wong, of Nottingham Road, who has just celebrated his first birthday, came out on top in the popular annual contest which saw hundreds of entrants take part.
The competition was launched in May with photographers from Foto Imaging taking pictures at Four Seasons Shopping Centre in Mansfield and Idlewells Centre in Sutton.
In July, we printed a bumper 16-page pullout with pictures of all the contestants before more than 1,600 people voted.
Due to a large number of votes via the Chad.co.uk website, a spam virus crashed the system which meant it took longer than normal to gather all the votes.
But Lewis, whose parents run Kev’s Fish Bar, was finally able to claim his crown after all the votes were counted.
Mum Sarah Edwards said: “We are really pleased that Lewis has won Chad Baby of the Year. We have been waiting a while to find out, but it’s nice to know he is the winner.
“We hadn’t really spoke much about it before, but saw the competition in the Chad and thought ‘why not?’
“I’m his mum so I’m biased and am going to say he’s really cute. But he’s definitely a cheeky chappy.”
Winner of the one to two years category was Adam King, of Sandhurst Avenue, Mansfield.
The two to three year section was won by Shakira Rutherford, of Ringvale Close, Chesterfield.
Each category winner will receive a large canvas print of their photo entry. The overall winner also gets a seven night holiday at Pontins, while the two category winners receive a short break at Pontins.
