LOSSES suffered by landlords and tenants after the closure of a Rainworth estate agents could run into tens of thousands of pounds.
Chad reported last week how Eazi-Move Estates and Lettings, on Southwell Road East, ceased trading with one landlord chasing unpaid rent and their tenant’s £450 deposit.
Dozens more people with similar problems have now contacted Chad frustrated at a lack of action from police and trading standards.
Eazi-Move also have an office in Kingsway, Kirkby-in-Ashfield but they claim to have ‘nothing to do’ with the Rainworth company.
A spokesman told Chad former boss Dawn Broome is now bankrupt and Eazi-Move Estates Ltd has started as a completely new company.
However, the website address, contact numbers and signage all remain the same.
Sibeal Hughes, a former franchisee of Eazi-Move claims she is owed more than £17,000 after signing an agreement with Ms Broome. She is chasing the matter up through the courts.
One man said he signed up to sell his home through the Kirkby office and paid for an Energy Performance Certificate which hasn’t been done.
Another landlord claims two months of rent paid by their tenant to Eazi-Move has not reached him.
A Kirkby man says he paid Ms Broome £500 to put his house on the market but hasn’t heard anything since and now can’t contact her.
Police are investigating and say enquiries are ongoing.
When Chad visited Dawn Broome’s home, in Keyworth Drive, Forest Town, there was no answer and a skip full of Eazi-Move signs and leaflets outside.
The Kirkby office was closed and no one answered any of the given phone numbers.
An email response said: “Eazi-Move Ltd are nothing to do with Eazi-Move Estate and Letting Agents.”
