DETECTIVES believe that Colin Hall may have been killed by a would-be robber who targeted his home in Kirkby, on Sunday, 10th February.

A murder inquiry was launched when Mr Hall (76) died following the attack in Cornerpin Drive.

DCI Tony Heydon, who is leading the investigation, said: “We think the offender went to Mr Hall’s house with the intention of robbing him. During the attack Mr Hall collapsed and later died.

“We think the suspect may have been wearing a sleeveless, yellow high-visibility jacket when he ran from the house. Was anyone you know acting strangely after returning home on Sunday night? If they were we urgently need to know.”

Detectives believe the offender is white, of medium to heavy build, and was wearing dark clothing with a black hat or hood and a sleeveless, yellow high-visibility jacket.

DCI Heydon said: “Whilst this is the key description we want to hear from you if you saw anyone in the area at the time. Please get in touch with us in the incident room.”

Officers are carrying out door-to-door enquiries and distributing leaflets in the area.

DCI Heydon added: “We want to reassure you that we are working hard to trace the offender and comfort the family, who are devastated by what happened to Mr Hall.”

If you have any information, call the incident room on 01623 483953, Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
