Jonathan Turner murder trial: Latvian found guilty of murdering Forest Town dad with kick to the head

A LATVIAN man who kicked Forest Town father Jonathan Turner in the head during a town centre attack was found guilty of murder today (Monday).

Vjaceslavs Solovjovs and two other men viciously attacked Mr Turner (27) outside the Vibe, on Stockwell Gate, Mansfield, on 7th May last year.

Latvian-born Solovjovs (23), of Terrace Road, Mansfield, will also be sentenced for perverting the course of justice.

He will be in the dock for sentencing tomorrow with co-accused Bagdas Kilic and Andrej Novakov tomorrow at Nottingham Crown Court.

Kilic (22), of Westfield Lane, Mansfield, was found guilty of manslaughter and Novakov (21), of Kipling Street, Mansfield, was found guilty of violent disorder.

The judge, Mr Justice Haddon-Cave, said: “You have been found guilty by unanimous verdicts by a jury of this court on overwhelming evidence.”

The judge thanked the Turner family for their patience during the proceedings.

“The conduct of those in the public gallery has been much appreciated by myself, the court staff and, I am sure, the jury,” said the judge.

POLICE say there have been no reported attacks on foreign nationals following pleas from the family of a Forest Town man who died after an alleged street assault.
