Rock music fans shouldn’t miss out on the chance to hear a number of bands live in Hucknall next weekend.
KevFest is an annual fundraising music event in memory of Hucknall man Kevin Dove and will take place on Saturday 18th January.
Kevin Dove took his own life in 2008 after suffering for years with Bipolar Disorder
“Kev was a very talented musician and sportsman who left behind his mother Sylvia, two sisters, three brothers, a son Andrew and an extended family and friends who all loved him,” said co-organiser and brother Mick Dove.
“We have run the event to mark Kev’s birthday ever since his death, but in 2011 we decided to make it a fundraising event and help worthy causes.”
The 2011 event raised £1,500 for the Bipolar Organisation and also helped raise awareness on a local and national level.
Mick added: “Following its success it was then decided to continue every January raising money for local charities with the help of bands from as far as Leicester and Nuneaton, who all give their time for free.”
KevFest 2014 will take place at the John Godber Centre, Ogle Street. Doors open at 5.30pm and music starts at 6pm. The price is £7 on the door with all proceeds going to the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance.
“We like to keep the money locally and everyone could need the services of the Air Ambulance one day,” added Mick. “It promises to be a good night for rock music fans whilst celebrating Kev’s life in music.”
