Housing application for old Mansfield cinema site

Permission to build eight three-bedroom homes in Mansfield could be renewed after an application was submitted to the council.

The plans are for the land on the old Kings Aquarium shop on the corner of Skerry Hill and Montague Street.

An almost identical application was passed by the planning committee at Mansfield District Council in 2009, but has since elapsed.

The old shop building, which was once a cinema, has since been demolished but no work has been started on the houses, which could be a mixture of three-storey detached and semi-detached homes.

They are being marketed as being ‘compact’ and ‘ideal for young couples looking to start a family’.

It will go before planners in the coming months.
