‘Good response’ from residents looking to fight Lindhurst development
NMAC11-2127-1 Coun. Steve Garner with a petition against the Lyndhurst Development
A CAMPAIGNER looking to mount a legal challenge against plans for 1,700 homes on the outskirts of Mansfield has received a ‘good response’ from residents.
Chad reported last week how Coun Steve Garner is attempting to drum up support from residents in Berry Hill who are against the Lindhurst housing scheme off the A617 Marr Route.
Nottinghamshire County Council’s finance and property committee have given authority for officers to progress the paperwork for the development but Coun Garner believes there is a strong environmental case to stop it.
However, about £20,000 is needed to legally fight the decision to push ahead with the scheme which could create thousands of jobs.
Coun Garner claims Mansfield District Council were not told about Natural England’s concerns about the scheme in relation to protecting local wildlife.
But the legal challenge is dependent on residents putting their own money in and a meeting is being arranged to gauge the level of support.
Coun Garner said: “I’ve had a good response so far with phone calls, texts and emails.”
Coun Garner is hoping to arrange a meeting in the week commencing 11th February at a venue to be confirmed. To contact Coun Garner call 07702 859237 or email steve.garner87@ntlworld.com.
