Give blood at donation session in Kirkby
ASHFIELD residents are being urged to give the gift of life by donating blood in Kirkby on two dates in September.
An NHS team will be at the Festival Hall, on Hodgkinson Road, on Sunday 16th September from 10am-12.45pm and 2.15–4.30pm and on Wednesday 26th September from 1-3.15pm and 4.45-7.30pm.
Currently 7,000 units of blood are needed in hospitals across England and North Wales every day.
NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is reminding blood donors and those thinking about giving blood for the first time in the Ashfield area to donate to continue to keep stocks healthy.
Donated blood is used to save the lives of sick and injured patients every day. It helps not only in accident and emergency situations, but also patients undergoing surgery and receiving treatment for cancer and blood diseases, such as leukaemia.
Anyone aged between 17 to 65, weighing more than 50 kg (7 stone 12lbs) and in general good health could potentially start saving lives by becoming a blood donor.
There is no upper age limit for donors who have donated in the last two years. To book an appointment call the Donor Line on 0300 123 23 23 or visit www.blood.co.uk
