Freed man is sent back to jail after one day

A MAN caught with a 12-inch knife the day after he was released from prison has been put back behind bars.

Ceri Roy Edward Hallybone, (21) of Portland Street, New Houghton was stopped by police in Mansfield last Wednesday night.

During a hearing at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, he admitted having the hunting-style knife on him. He had just been released early from a 16-week jail term for a number of offences, including have a bladed article in public.

In mitigation, defending Sarah Neale said he had been carrying the hunting knife because he feared for this safety following a dispute, but had no intention of using it.

He was ordered to serve the remaining 90 days of his previous sentence, as well an additional 140 days.
