Former Pleasley farm hand jailed for three years for sexual assualt and exposure

A FARM labourer found guilty of molesting six women has been branded a sexual menace and jailed for three years.
Nottingham Crown Court court was told that Alan Jevons (24) grabbed their bottoms, pulled their tops down and on occasions exposed himself.
Judge Jonathan Teare told Jevons, formerly of Pleasley and Nether Langwith: “When these ladies were alone and vulnerable you would pick on them and be a sexual menace.”
A jury last month convicted him of 12 counts of sexual assault and two of exposure.
An allegation that he twice raped another woman was dropped by the prosecution after the jury failed to reach verdicts on those charges.
The offences took place over five years up to last year.
Grace Hale, prosecuting, told the jury: “It is precisely because none of these women told on him that he carried on boldly sexually assaulting them and getting satisfaction from it.”
But last June one woman told her husband then rang a friend who was a police officer.
Mrs Hale said Jevons could be intimidating and aggressive when he was angry.
The court was told that the offences had affected the women’s relationships with their husbands and boyfriends.
One referred to changing her appearance to make herself less attractive to the opposite sex.
Jevons claimed he did nothing sexual and the women had ganged up on him. He maintained his denials and had already spent seven months in custody on remand, said his barrister Clive Stockwell.
Judge Teare said Jevons had no prior convictions and was regarded as a valued worker.
“But this was a long period of persistent offending where these girls were humiliated and scared,” the judge told him.
The judge made a five-year sexual offences prevention order banning him from contacting the six women and recommended that his shotgun certificate be revoked.
