A MARTIAL arts instructor, origianlly from Mansfield, has been charged by police with 13 alleged sexual offences involving children.

Former world and British kickboxing champion Adam Beniston (27), of Seaholme Road, Mablethorpe has been charged with offences which include 11 counts of sexual activity involving a girl of under 16 (aged 14 at the time).

These include both penetrative and non-penetrative offences.

The two other charges are one of possessing indecent images of children and one of causing a child to engage in pornography.

He will appear at Skegness Magistrates Court on August 28.

Adam Beniston. who moved from Mansfield to Lincolnshire three years ago, is the son of powerlifting and kickboxing supremo Phil Beniston who was nominated for Amateur Sports Person of the Year alongside Rebecca Addlington at the 2008 Mansfield Sports Recognition Awards.

Adam Beniston was crowned coach of the year at the Lincolnshire Sports Awards last year, an award handed to him by BBC Sport presenter Dan Walker, and was runner up in the overall sportsman award.

He has been involved in the East Coast Martial Arts organisation in Mablethorpe, which has built up to over 100 members since being set up in 2009.

The ECMA academy has launched the sporting careers of a number of members.

He has coached a double world kickboxing champion, a world karate silver medallist and one double world kickboxing silver medallist.
