A WOMAN has told a jury she did not make a phone call threatening to kill former Mansfield man and father-of-17 Michael Philpott.

Lisa Willis (29) his ex-mistress and mother of four of his children, continued her evidence at Nottingham Crown Court today (Thursday).

Mick Philpott (56) is accused of the manslaughter of six of his other children by his wife Mairead in a house fire at the family home in Derby.

The prosecution claim he set out to frame Willis over the fire during a custody battle over her five children, one of them not his, but the plan went ‘horribly’ wrong.

Anthony Orchard QC, for Mick Philpott, said his client had written on Facebook: “I love all my children more than life itself, including the ones not my flesh and blood. I treat them all the same.”

On 1st May last year, 10 days before the fatal fire, it was alleged Willis made a seven-second phone call to Philpott saying: “Leave me, my sister and my family alone, or I will kill you.”

In the witness box, where she is screened from the public, she denied making any such call.

Earlier in her evidence she said she was at her own home on the night of the fire. Her sister was there with her until 8pm.

She denied going anywhere near the Philpotts’ three-bedroom council semi that night – or discussing with anyone else about them going there.

Mick Philpott, his 31-year-old wife, and his friend Paul Mosley (46) plead not guilty to six counts of manslaughter.

The trial continues.
