Deadline looms for back dated health care funding

RESIDENTS in Mansfield and Ashfield who receive care at home or in care homes may be entitled to backdated payments.

NHS Continuing Healthcare funding pays for some people’s health care although not everyone is eligible to receive the grants.

Now the Department of Health has announced deadlines for backdated application, with the first being on 30th September.

It covers care carried out between 1st April 2004 and 31st March 2011. For care carried out between 1st April last year and 31st March this year the deadline is 31st March 2013.

The deadlines only apply to periods of care which have not been assessed previously and to cases which evidence suggests should have been assessed for eligibility for the funding.

Many people receive care for some time before they or their families apply for the funding. For more details on care received in the county call Mansfield 673837.
