The budget at Nottinghamshire County Council has been approved at County Hall, with 34 votes in favour and 30 against the proposals.
The meeting, which finished shortly before 4.45pm today after more than five hours of discussion, will see major cuts to services and hundreds of jobs being lost.
Due to cuts in government funding, the council has been left with a shortfall of £154m which needs to be bridged over the next three years.
The proposals have clearly divided opinion, with those against the cuts claiming the most vulnerable will suffer as a result, including cuts to adult and children’s services and transport.
Protests were even held outside of county hall earlier today, with members of the trade union Unison gathering to voice their disapproval.
