Community order for drunken threats

A MANSFIELD man who subjected pub staff to verbal abuse while drunk has been given a six-month community order with supervision.

Mansfield Magistrates’ Court was told how on 22nd August Richard Moesby (34), of Pelham Street, asked staff at the Stag and Pheasant public house not to serve him anymore drinks after having consumed bourbon, a pint of larger, five spirit shots and two jager bombs.

Neil Hollett, prosecuting, said Moesby offered to buy the barman a drink for but he refused to serve the defendant a drink for himself.

Said Mr Hollett: “He became aggressive and shouted at the bar staff, while punching himself in the face.”

Staff phoned police after Moesby had gone outside and he was arrested.

During police interview that it was his voice in the background of a 999 call.

He admitted using threatening words and behaviour during the court hearing last Wednesday.

Mark Stocks, mitigating, said Moesby, who had been very pleasant for most of the afternoon, had been diagnosed with mental health issues and was under considerable financial pressure at the time.
