Community News - Woodhouse

Trinity Methodists

Last Monday week, the Home Fellowship met at the home of Russ and Joan Walters led by the Rev Arthur Spencer. The Cilla Group met last Tuesday week, for Youth Bible Study at Castleton Close. On Wednesday morning, the Toddler Group met in the Schoolroom, followed by the Bright Hour AGM, conducted by the Rev Barbara Greenwood. Last Saturday there was a table top sale at the church. Sunday service was conducted by the Rev Barbara Greenwood. Luke Arthur Bennett was baptised. Bible readings were by Mrs Cilla Marsh and Mrs Mary Marsh. Stewards were Mrs Joan Walters and Mrs Joyce Cree, and organist was Mr David Richards.

Peafield Community

Last Sunday week, the service was conducted by Ian Munro, and Bible readings were by Margaret Munro. Shirley Baines led prayers. A donation of £50, was from the Peafield Community Association.

St Chad’s

The Harvest Festival was conducted by the Rev Allan Scrivener. Organist was Bess Wright. The church was decorated by Gerald and Janet Houldsworth. Sunday week’s, service was conducted by the Rev Allan Scrivener.

TRIANGLE HEALTH AND SOCIAL GROUP: Last Thursday week, 21 members attended the meeting at Turner Hall Lounge. The subscriptions were collected by Ruth Marriott, and Sheila Evans recorded personal weights. The meeting was chaired by Joan Davies. The members exercised to a video, which was followed by chair assisted exercise, led by Sheila Evans, who was also the raffle winner. The refreshment hostess’ were Marlene Grummett and Kath Betts. Recently, Lynn Willetts from Mansfield District MS Society visited the group, to talk about their new project, to raise funds for a new Wheelchair Ambulance. A cheque for 」100 was presented by Joan Davies on behalf of Triangle.

St Edmund’s Church

Last Sunday week, the Creation Festival and Parade Service took place with the 4th Mansfield Woodhouse Scout Group and the Rainbows in attendance. The service was conducted by the Rev Allan Scrivener. A poem was read by Irene Stubbs, and Bible readings were by Jean Taylor and Sue Bowley. Sidesman was Ruth Greaves. The 6.30pm Exodus Choir Sing Harvest Evensong was conducted by the Rev Allan Scrivener. Sidesmen were Jean Taylor and Sue Bowley, and readings were by Maud Jarvis. Bess Wright was organist.

Brothers, Sisters

At last Sunday week’s service, Peter Cresswell spoke about ‘Getting a New Heart’, and how prayer was a direct line to God. At the Breaking of Bread service, his theme was ‘Baptism, a new life with Jesus’. Musicians were John Bennett and Peter Cresswell, and steward was Maurice Trynor. Following playtime at the Wednesday morning Tots and Toys group, the children presented gifts to the Harvest Table, and took part in accompanied singing. The Wednesday evening Bible Class, was conducted by Denise Sobcynski.
