Women’s section chairman Janice Haynes presided and led the Act of Homage at September’s meeting attended by 14 members. She, Shirley Fox and Doreen Meddings provided raffle prizes won by Mesdames L. Wright, D. Greenstreet and L. Walker. Bingo callers were Mrs Haynes and Mrs Heather Godfrey.
At Wednesday week’s meeting at Quarrydale School, Sutton, Erika Marshall and Pam Peake supervised communications badgework.
Kelly Cater led Sunday week’s service. Door stewards were Sheila Clarke and Margaret Jones. Di Smith operated the clavinova and Gerald Hutson manned the sound mixer desk. Sandra Burton gave a PowerPoint presentation. Worship leader Brenda Goldsmith opened the service and led intercessions. Vestry steward Stuart Bramwell took the offertory with his wife, Kathleen. Vestry steward Brenda Johnson gave Bible readings with her husband, Trevor. Anne Baines and Sheila Clarke led junior church. Brenda and Trevor Johnson served refreshments. Members of Meeting Point, for people with learning difficulties, had activities on Wednesday week. Members of the caring and learning group ran Monday week’s Oasis session of prayer and listening.
Busy Bees Buggy Club
At Anchor Centre 13 pre-school children, accompanied by adults, attended Thursday week’s meeting. Yesterday week 14 accompanied pre-school children attended the meeting. Ellie Alvey and her mother, Helena, were welcomed.
At Monday week’s meeting star of the week awards went to Emmy Morgan and Mary Makison-Smith. Weekly award winners were Mary and Hanna Makison-Smith and Ellie-Mae Parsons. Getting-to-know-you activities included a questionnaire and games. Members coloured paper fish and used them for a flapping race. Leaders Pam, Jo and Bethany Peake and Jamie Brelsford were assisted by Guide Charlotte Peake and Brownie Lucy Peake.
G Force Line Dancing
At yesterday week’s meeting at Anchor Centre Gaye Teather taught a Latin American dance.
At Monday week’s meeting at Quarrydale School, Sutton, activities about the Brownie Promise included games and jigsaws. Leaders were Catherine Willis and Natalie Flint.
Chairman Mr Norman Broadbelt welcomed 35 members and was bingo caller at Thursday week’s meeting. Mrs S. Key and Mrs M. Hoyland served teas and Mr A. Key, Mrs M. Flint and Mrs J. Turner did kitchen duties. Mr J. Clarke and Mesdames R. Renshaw, Hoyland and Flint assisted with bingo. Mesdames J. Boyer, Flint and Renshaw sold tickets. Raffle winner was Mrs D. Mitchell and members played dominoes.
St Andrew’s Church
There was a Little Fishes Toddlers’ Group activity period last Monday week. The Vicar, Canon Dr Richard Kellett, conducted the wedding of Gavin Hardstaff and Charlotte Rayner on Saturday week. Associate Priest, the Rev Adrian Dempster, celebrated Sunday week’s early said Holy Communion. Jennie Sharpe and the vicar led morning worship. John Dunn was organist for the week. Other musicians were the vicar on guitar and Brightlights Youth Band. Gill Smith gave a Bible reading and Mary Whitbread led prayers. John Whitbread and Celia Kellett were in the ministry team. Marilyn Turner, Joyce Whetton and Gill Smith served refreshments.
At Healdswood Community Centre chairman Mr David Franks opened Monday week’s meeting attended by 32 members. He and Mrs J. Turner sold tickets and raffle winner was Mrs J. Hague. Bingo callers Mr J. Clarke and Mrs M. Wallace were assisted by Mrs M. Gwynn and Mrs M. Hoyland. Mrs Hague and Mrs R. White did kitchen duties.
