4th Rainbows

On Friday week at SS Simon and Jude’s Rainbows continued with a ‘Fairy’ theme. They played Fairy games and cut out and coloured a Fairy doll which they made clothes for .

3rd, 4th Brownies

Brownies played games to learn about the points of the compass and to recognise different birds. They made up first aid kits for a walk and made hot chocolate with marshmallows floating in it. The Brownies also decided that it would be fun to plan a sleepover in January.

St George’s RC Church

Father Christopher Thomas was assisted at the altar by Andrew Storey during Sundays Mass. Janet Clayton and Jake Winterton both gave readings and Jackie Massey, Colin Massey, Malachi Fagan, Paul Allsop, Cyril Murphy and John Storey were offertory bearers. Andrew Storey, Cyril Murphy and Margaret Bonsall were Eucharistic Ministers.

Methodist Church

Sunday Harvest FestivalaAll age worship was led by the Rev David Greenwood. A dramatised reading was performed by Doris and Ann Adeniji and the Rev Greenwood. Antonia and Arnold, Adeniji made a special presentation on behalf of everyone at the church to Connie Mosley for her years of service to the Sunday school. Flowers decorating the church were donated by Ann O’Hare. The Festival continued in the evening with a ‘Churches together’ service of Harvest Praise led by the Rev Barbara Greenwood. There were readings from the Rev David Greenwood and Mick Daykin and Margaret Toon played the organ. Christine Daniel was welcoming steward.

St Simon and Jude’s

During Saturday’s coffee shop the church was decorated for the harvest festival led on Sunday morning by Marilyn Brown and the Rev Clare Tyack. Guest speaker was Mary Lane from the Beacon project. Produce and goods brought to the church were presented to Mary to benefit the homeless in the area. Monetary donations from the service were given to Farm Africa. The uniformed groups presented their flags during the service and Joan Foster read lessons and Gordon Foster played the organ.
