Over 50s Club

At the Miners’ Welfare Mr J. Hallam welcomed 77 members. Mr D. Starr was MC for dancing and spot waltz winners were Mrs I. Alsebrook and Mrs M. Richards. Serving refreshments were Mrs P. Seed, Mrs B. Edmondson and Mrs E. Baxter. Mr J. Hallam called bingo and ticket sellers were Mrs L. Parkin and Mrs A. Plastow. MC for dominoes was Mr J. Saunders and winners were Mrs M. Kesteven and Mrs M. Tomlinson. The competition winner was Mrs S. Musson and the weekly raffle was held with the prizes donated by the club (3), and Mesdames Haggarty, Smart, Murphy, Tiplady, Prior, Ellis, Blanc, Evans, Clipston, Brailsford, Baxter, Critchelow, Millward, Straw, and Edmondson.

4th Rainbows

On Friday week at SS Simon and Jude’s the Rainbows met for their weekly meeting.

Methodist Church

Sunday morning service was led by Patrick Maiden with readings from Pat Holmes. Sunday school was led by Vanessa Lewin, Fiona Lewin, and Alan Mosley. Welcome steward was Christine Daniel and flowers decorating the church were donated by Betty Brown. Margaret Toon played the organ. Members visited Blidworth Methodists for their evening Harvest Festival.

St Simon and Jude’s

Members attended a united Benefice service for Blidworth and Rainworth at St Andrew’s, Blidworth on Sunday morning. The Beacon project, aids the homeless and vulnerable from Mansfield, Ashfield and surrounding areas and the church has appealed to local people to donate tea, coffee, sugar, hot chocolate, tinned and packet soup, meat, beans, tomatoes, potatoes, rice pudding, jams and biscuits etc. Bring them to church in time to make a display for the Harvest services, before they are given to the project. There are boxes at the back of the churches for donations.
