Methodist Church

Morning service was led by the Rev Arthur Spencer and there were readings from Alan and Dorothy Tighe. Members visited Rainworth Methodists for their Harvest festival.

Tuesday fellowship

Tuesday week’s group meeting at St Michael’s Church was led by Margaret Tait, members shared favourite readings.

Friendship Club

The club members ran a stall at the Bazaar organised by the WI, raising £156.

WI

President Pat Smedley introduced speaker, Richard Papworth on ‘Excuse me madam…..but’. Mr Papworth was a county policeman and then a store detective. He was thanked by Mary Beeley. The next meeting is on 1st November at 2 30pm in the lower hall for a talk on ‘The History of Basford’.

Autumn Bazaar

The WI organised, what has become an annual Autumn Bazaar, on Saturday week filling both village halls with stalls run by and for local groups. The WI supplied drinks and biscuits in both halls, organised the raffle and ran their stall selling home-made cakes and jams. There were 15 stalls. The groups were Air Ambulance, Lifeboat Guild, Mother’s Union, National Epilepsy Society, John Eastwood Hospice Support Group, Farnsfield Flower Club, St Michael’s Youth Group, Farnsfield and District Horticultural Society, Motor Neurone Disease Group, 1st Responder Scheme, Farnsfield Friendship Club, Guillain-Barre Syndrome Research, National Police Aid Convoy and Farnsfield WI.
