Mothering Sunday service on Sunday week was led by lay reader Heather Brown, assisted by lay reader Joan Wood, who preached. Readings were by Lucy White and Malcolm Goodall, Harvey Woodward read a poem for mums. Organist was Jon White, Mums at the service were given a small gift of Mothering Sunday bookmarks and chocolates. Candles were lit in memory of mums who are no longer with us .Refreshments were served afterwards by Malcolm Goodall and Sue Wilson,
Club members have involved in various events. Jenny Wallis competing in the Belvoir 16 mile off road challenge in a time of 3:27, and Loughborough Queens Park half marathon. Sally Woodhead 2:07, Sam Straw and Debbie Rose 2:26. The mayor presented Amy Kershaw with a certificate for fastest female in 46 mins at the Amber Valley Shipley six-mile race held for Sport Relief, while Caroline Bass ran her firstthree-mile race at Newstead Park in aid of Sports Relief. Jenny Wallis achieved 1:42 at the Clumber Duathlon (5K run 22k bike 2.5k run) and the following all obtained PBs at the Mansfield Park 5k run - Amy Kershaw 23:16, Cathie Babbington 27:57, Sally Woodhead 28:16, Emma Barnaby 29:23, Hannah Tunnicliffe 30:02, Emma Brown 30:28, and Fran Sissons 32:02. In Cape Town (South Africa), Mel Simms ran a PB 28:46. Johanna Mather trained with a 10-mile hike in Derbyshire. Kaylan Smith, Cathie Babbington and Paula Brown organised a Sport Relief Mile, with around 64 children from Kirklington Primary School. Sally Woodhead received £100 voucher for sweet shop trainers from Mansfield 5K Park run of the month.The annual meeting was held on the 14th March followed by a special body shop party for members hosted by Cathie Babbington. Training session this month were (fartlek) by Sam Straw and (intervals) by Cathie Babbington, New members Debbie Mirfin, Sallyanne Mitchell, Suzie Parkinson and Cassie Cooper were welcomed.
Leader Emma Tyson was in charge of Monday weeks meeting at headquarters. Members completed work for their fitness challenge badge, and made edible chocolate bowls for mothers day presents, assisted by Graham Baguley, Derek Taylor and Lynn Blanchard.
Group scout leader Graham Baguley was in charge of Tuesday week’s meeting at Headquarters. Members made Mother’s Day cards and did team games assisted and supervised by Marian Mawer, Lisa Jest, Emma Tyson and Carl Baguley.
Network leader Emily Spencer-Mawer was in charge of Tuesday week’s meeting at headquarters. Members made Mother’s Day cards and gifts.Spaces are vacant in all sections of the group, from six year olds to 14 year olds. Chairman David Ramsdale welcomed members to Tuesday week’s meeting. Raffle winners were Sylvia Somerville and Edna Sawyer. Twenty members were welcomed to Friday week’s meeting. Raffle winners were Lillian Johnson and Francis Cooper. Refreshments were served by committee members David Ramsdale, Celia Smith and Maureen Abbott. Bingo caller for both sessions was Celia Smith.
Over 50s Club
Chairman David Ramsdale welcomed 41 members to Wednesday week’s meeting at the welfare. Dance MC was Denis Teather and bingo caller was David Ramsdale. Members joined in a horse racing-themed game arranged by Marion Sentence, Katie Towle and Brian Charlesworth. A general knowledge quiz arranged by Bill Lamb was won by Connie Charlesworth. Winners of the chocolate dance were Colin and Rita Dodsworth. Refreshments were served by Marion Towle. Over 50s Club

Mothering Sunday service Sunday week was led by Lay readers Heather Brown and Joan Wood. Heather Brown read a children’s story and Joan Wood preached and led prayers. Readers were Karen Bonser and Sarah Wood. Mothers in the congregation received a Mothering Sunday card and flowers. Children took the offertory. A simnel cake provided by Iolen Harding was served with wine after the service. Organist was Derek Reaney.
