Community News - Blidworth

Meadow, New Road

On Monday week the meeting was opened by Mrs M. Brailsford. Mrs K. White, Mrs M. Wood and Mrs J. Pitt served the members with refreshments. Tickets were sold by Mrs J. Dodsworth and Mr H. Alcock called bingo. A quiz was organised and called by Mrs M. Cooper and the winners were Mrs J. Dodsworth, Mrs M. Underwood, and Mr A. Musson. Bingo winners were Mesdames S. Layland, M. Wood, M. Simpson, P. Hutton, J. Pitt, M. Cope, J. Davies, M. Buchanon, and Messrs E. Buchanon and E. Ufton. Raffle winners were Mesdames J. Smith, J. Davies, J. Musson, F. Meakin, K. White, and Messrs H. Alcock and E. Ufton. Members celebrated the birthday of Mrs J. Davies.

St Andrew’s

Morning Prayer took place on Monday and Wednesday mornings with Holy Communion, On Wednesday Vestry hour was led by Angela Penny. Tuesday bingo with Stephen took place on Tuesday.

St Mary’s Church

Sunday’s service saw the Rev

Clare Tyack give readings from the New Testament and from the Gospel. Also assisting were the Rev Hazel Robinson who gave the sermon and Stephen Fox who lead prayers. There were Old Testament readings from John Robinson and Gordon Foster played the organ.

Methodist Church

On Tuesday Holy Communion was celebrated in the morning and followed by soup lunch. A Body shop event was on Thursday evening. On Sunday morning the church hosted a ‘Junior Mission for all’ service led by the Rev Johnson Makoti and his family currently visiting the UK from Zimbabwe. During the service certificates and badges were awarded to the JMA collectors who raised £492.
