Ladies Running Club
Leader Cathie Babbington welcomed new members to a six-week running for beginners course. Congratulations were given to Sam Straw on passing her leadership in running course.
St John Ambulance
Leader Jonathan Holmes was in charge. Members of the competition team trained with Geoff Goddard, Trevor Knott and Mick Stevens. The National finals will be held on 21st October at Swindon. Members of the team are Ashleigh Richardson and Elizabeth Richardson. Sunday week Ashleigh Richardson was chosen to be The Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for 2013.
Burton Court Centre
Raffle winners were Rene Vickers, Maureen James , Ann Moody and Ann Hutchison. Bingo caller was Sandra Morton.
Scouts
Members joined in a Scouting past and present quiz, then did programming ideas, helped by Diane Johnson and senior patrol leaders Corey Hughes and Lauren Argyle.
Beavers
Members had a science night. Parent helpers were Lisa Jest, Marian Mawer.
Cubs
Kim Litchfield was in charge of Tuesday week’s meeting at Headquarters. Members did work on their Orienteering badge helped by Sharon Page and Ross Stoneman.
Scouts Gala
Was Saturday week and made £170 toward funds. Raffle winners were Roy Stoneman, Josh Bobday and Sue Baguley.
Green Centre
Chairman David Ramsdale welcomed 19 members Tuesday week. Raffle winners were Robert Rowe and Jean Moran. Bingo caller was Celia Smith. Friday week raffle winners were Sheila Hall and Lillian Johnson. Bingo caller was David Ramsdale.
Over 50s Club
Chairman David Ramsdale welcomed members Wednesday week at the Welfare. Dance MC was Denis Teather and bingo caller was Steve Jackson. Members joined in a horse racing theme game arranged by Joe Lowde, Katie Towle and Becky Kemp.
St Margaret’s Church
Harvest festival Sunday week was led by Lay reader Joan Wood. Hospitality greeters were Sandra Burrows and Jenny Elston. Nigel Spraggins gave a Bible reading and also acted in an interactive play with Lauryn Stokoe and Heather Brown. Harvest gifts will be distributed to Framework for the homeless and Emanuel House in Nottingham.
The offertory was taken by Alessia Barnard-Pasqualone and Megan Abbott. Refreshments were served afterwards by Sandra Burrows and Iolen Harding. Evening Holy Communion wass led by the Rev’d Margaret Groves who preached and led prayers. The epistle was read by Will Abbott and the gospel by Jenny Elston Organist for both services was Derek Reaney.
