Clipstone couple face jail for sexually abusing young girls
A MARRIED couple from Clipstone will be sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday (4th February) for sexually abusing three young girls over a 13 year period.
Robert (52) and Rita (51) Oldham, from Greendale Crescent, Clipstone, Mansfield, pleaded guilty at a hearing in December 2012 to a string of offences against girls under the age of 16 which took place between 1993 and 2006 at various addresses in both Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Both were remanded into custody prior to sentencing.
One victim was just three years of age when she was first assaulted.
The circumstances surrounding the crimes cannot be published in order to protect the identity of the victims.
Detective Constable Louise Gowan, who has spent nine years investigating child and sexual abuse and who led the police investigation, said the offences were “the worst and most serious I have ever experienced”.
She added: “Having fully investigated the pattern of offending, I am quite satisfied that these crimes happened on a very regular basis and have had a devastating effect on the lives of the young victims.”
Robert Oldham has pleaded guilty to 16 separate offences including rape and indecent assault; his wife has pleaded guilty to three separate charges, one of rape, one of indecent assault, and a third of wilfully neglecting and exposing a child to assault and ill-treatment by her husband. They both denied other similar offences.
DC Gowan said: “Although the Oldhams have pleaded guilty to a number of crimes, I am keen to hear from anyone who may have other information that may be relevant to this investigation or who is affected by this case and needs Police support and help.“
