Mansfield’s branch of Samaritans enjoyed a record fund-raising Christmas in Four Seasons Shopping Centre, and they have thanked everyone who made their present wrapping service such a success.
A massive £3,743.99 was raised through donations from happy shoppers between December 9th and 24th– making it the most successful year for the Mansfield Samaritans since they began their gift-wrapping service 13 years ago.
Around 25 wrapping volunteers helped over the 16 days, including members of Samaritans’ own team, other Mansfield voluntary organisations and supporters from Mansfield Building Society.
Retailers in Four Seasons also contributed to the effort by helping out with a range of essential materials.
Commenting on the record-breaking year, a spokesperson for the Samaritans, said: “We are extremely grateful to our volunteers and to the people of Mansfield for their generosity, and especially Four Seasons for making it possible and looking after us so well.
“Although the money raised will be very useful, it isn’t just about the money. The profile which we achieve through being in the Centre is hugely important in highlighting our services to people who may need us - that is vitally important.”
