A Mansfield-based humanitarian group bound for the Middle East on a mercy mission were stunned after a charity turned up to hand over £13,000.

The National Police Aid Convoys (NPAC) were loading up a 40-foot container at their King’s Mill Way warehouse when the members of the Uhuru Peaceful Trust surprised them with the cash to help pay for three further freight loads.

The shipping container was stacked with medical equipment, and even' a 22-foot long Renault ambulance, all bound for Islamabad, Pakistan.
