TEAM Chad will be getting on our bikes to help raise hundreds of pounds for our ambitious £750,000 MRI scanner appeal next month.
We will be taking part in a sponsored exercise bike ride at Oasis Health Centre, on Quarry Lane, along with teams from Mansfield 103.2, West Notts College, Mansfield Town Football Club and King’s Mill Hospital as we seek to further boost the coffers for our life-changing campaign.
As part of the fundraiser teams of six will cycle ‘non-stop’ between 9am and noon at the popular fitness centre on 19th October.
Suzanne Hughes, general manager at Oasis Health Centre, told Chad they were delighted to back our event, saying: “We like to support community events and we have a good relationship with Chad. We will do whatever we can to support our local hospital and events such as this.”
Local radio station Mansfield 103.2 will also be backing our profile-raising event with on-air coverage on the day.
Ian Watkins, Mansfield 103.2 programme controller, said: “All of us at Mansfield 103.2 think the scanner appeal is a fantastic cause and we wanted to do our bit to help out.
“Having been inspired by TeamGB’s antics in the velodrome this summer the sponsored bike ride seemed like a great way to do just that.
“I’m currently rounding up recruits for Team103 but don’t expect any Sir Chris Hoy standard riders, most us havent been on a bike since we were at school.”
A spokesman for West Notts College added: “The Chad’s MRI scanner appeal is a superb cause and has already raised a fantastic amount of money.
“The local community has really thrown its weight behind the appeal and we’re delighted to be joining other high-profile organisations across Mansfield and Ashfield in doing our bit to help.
“Combining sport, fitness and fundraising is a great idea and this event is sure to take the appeal a step closer to its final target.”
So far Chad has helped to raise thousands of pounds since teaming up with King’s Mill Hospital to launch the health campaign on 27th October following superb support from the Mansfield and Ashfield community.
Hospital bosses say the new state-of-the-art MRI scanner will allow them to offer hundreds of thousands of patients across the district safer, faster and more detailed diagnosis over the next seven years.
