Cash boost for Huthwaite Leisure Centre

HUTHWAITE Leisure Centre is to receive an injection of cash to attract more visitors and extend the life of the building.

Chad has previously reported that members of Ashfield District Council had agreed that the centre should continue to be run by Everyone Active - and gave the green light to invest in works to improve the centre.

In the past, the building has suffered from low visitor numbers but council chiefs are hoping that more people will visit thanks to the introduction of a varied programme of events.

Over the summer, there were a range of children’s activities, along with quiz nights.

Ballroom dancing, multi sports activities, football coaching and dance classes for toddlers to teenagers are some of the other activities also being planned.

In addition, residents are being urged to contact the centre if they have any new ideas for activities.

Coun Steve Carroll said: “It is vital the community tells the council which activities it wants to see at the centre so we can put together an interesting and varied programme of events.”
