TWO dedicated cyclists have helped raise more than £3,500 for Chad’s life-changing MRI campaign after cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

Robert Morris, of Ravenshead, and friend Phil Brown undertook the mammoth fundraising effort in memory of their friend Keith Gregory, who died from cancer in May 2009.

The couple, along with Robert’s wife Clare and Keith’s wife Sue, have helped raise more than £11,000 for good causes over the last three years and regularly hold charity football matches in Keith’s honour.

Keith was well known in the area and used to manage the Ravenshead Reds junior football team.

Speaking after handing over the £3,555.30 donation, delighted Clare said: “It was a massive effort for Robert and Phil and they deserve an awful lot of credit for what they have done.

“Robert has been wanting to do this ride for a long time and wanted to do it for a good cause. When we saw the Chad campaign we thought it was the perfect charity to donate too.

“We are very proud of them for achieving this and I’m sure Keith would have been very proud of their efforts as well.”

Chad teamed up with hospital bosses on 27th June to launch the ambitious appeal to raise £750,000 to help King’s Mill improve their service by purchasing a new state-of-the-art MRI Scanner.

The current facility treats around 10,000 people a year, but needs modernising to allow King’s Mill Hospital to provide a more detailed and safer diagnosis to hundreds of thousands of patients over the next seven years.

Donations to our MRI appeal can be made by visiting Chad receptions, calling the customer services department at King’s Mill Hospital on 01623 672222, by visiting Sherwood Forest Hospital’s NHS Trust website, through Just Giving or by cheque.

All cheques should be made payable to Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charitable Funds.
