Careers and advice day to help set Mansfield and Ashfield people on path to success

New careers and advice days have been launched in Mansfield and Ashfield, offering support, employment and careers advice to job seekers in the area.

Mansfield and Ashfield District Councils, West Notts College and Job Centre Plus have joined forces to offer two career advice days where people will be able find out about:

apprenticeship opportunities

new career pathways

starting up a new business

volunteering opportunities

retraining

interview skills, CV guidance and job applications

The first event takes place on Wednesday 26 September, 10am to 3pm, at Mansfield Library in the town centre. The second event will be held at Sutton Centre Community College on Wednesday 3 October from 10am to 3pm.

A variety of support organisations will be attending, ready to provide guidance and support to help people make choices for the future.

Both events are free of charge to attend and everyone is welcome. There is no need to book, just turn up on the day.

Coun Kate Allsop, Portfolio Holder for Economic Regeneration at Mansfield District Council said: “The current economic climate means the job market is extremely competitive and these career and advice days aim to give local people best possible chance to secure employment and stand out from the crowd.

“We also want to assist those who are considering changing their career, as well those looking to start their own business.

“I’d encourage everyone to come along to what could be the start of a brighter future.”

Coun Steve Carroll, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, Culture and Housing at Ashfield District Council, said: “I echo Coun Allsop’s comments and would add that it is great to see the two Councils working together to organise these events.

“I hope that Ashfield residents turn out in force, to take advantage of the high quality help and advice that will be on offer”.
