An application to build 14 new homes on a plot of overgrown land has been given the go-ahead.

The triangular-shaped land is between Booth Crescent and Peel Crescent and was once occupied by a building belonging to Bull Farm Middle School, which is adjacent to the site.

Submitted by UK Construction Ltd, it is for 13 two-bedroom homes and one three-bedroom house, along with 24 parking spaces.

Put before Mansfield District Council planning committee, concern was raised by some members regarding the density of the homes, with Coun Martin Wright labelling them ‘compact’.

Despite that, the committee voted in favour of the houses, with 10 votes to one.
