Bilsthorpe firm celebrate centre unveiling
A BILSTHORPE construction company, which recently completed work on Lincolnshire County Council’s Heritage Skills Centre, has celebrated the building’s official opening.
Robert Woodhead Ltd took part in the official opening of the skills centre in the grounds of Lincoln Castle on Friday when Lord Cormack and Viscount Linley unveiled a commemorative stone plaque to open the Centre.
More than 100 invited guests attended the opening including representatives from the various organisations involved in the design and build of the centre.
During the construction of the impressive building, Robert Woodhead Ltd were able to spend more than 80 per cent of the budget within a 30 mile radius of the new site which is set to attract more than 250,000 visitors a year to Lincolnshire.
The skills centre is a highly eco-friendly building with sustainable timber, air source heat pumps, green roof, Hempcrete paneling, under floor heating and rain water harvesting.
Even during construction every effort was made to minimise waste and keep the environmental impact as low as possible.
The opening included a cake cutting ceremony with a special cake commissioned by Robert Woodhead Ltd.
Robert Woodhead Ltd was established in 1946 and incorporated in 1978.
The company, which is based on Brailwood Road, Bilsthorpe, has 69 employees and has an ongoing portfolio of projects in the construction industry.
