Battle of the Somme screening at library

A film is to be screened at Mansfield Library as part of the 100th anniversary commemorations into the Battle of the Somme.

The bloodiest battle of World War One, and the costliest in Britain’s military history, started on July 1, 1916, lasted four months and led to more than million men being killed or injured.

The 1916 film The Battle of the Somme, a documentary and propaganda movie, will be shown with a live orchestral backing.

It will be shown on Saturday, August 6, from 2pm to 5pm.
