Ashfield Rose scheme launched to recognise good citizens

DO you know a member of the Ashfield community who always goes that extra mile to help their friends and neighbours?

Perhaps you know someone who always digs deep and dedicates countless hours to a community group or voluntary project.

If so then Chad wants to hear from you as part of our new Ashfield Rose initiative.

Chad has teamed up with Kirkby-based Floral Expressions, to celebrate the best in Ashfield.

The initiative will celebrate the very best in community spirit and give some much-deserved recognition to one local person each week, who has done their bit to make Ashfield a better place to live in.

Joe Thompson, who runs Floral Expressions on 42 Station Street, said she was delighted to be involved in the initiative.

She said: “We’re delighted to get involved in the Rose Awards because we feel it is important to recognise the efforts of local people who are making a difference in the community, especially in such hard times.”

Chad editor Tracy Powell added: “This is your chance to gain recognition for an un-sung hero in your life. There isn’t enough celebration of what individuals do for others in their everyday lives, and our Rose Award aims to redress that. Many thanks to Floral Expressions in Kirkby for supporting our initiative.

“The idea is that the award is a surprise for the recipient which adds to the excitement and their reaction. So please, if you know someone who deserves an Ashfield Rose Award, then let us know.”

If you want to nominate someone, contact Stephen Thirkill on 01623 450292, by emailing stephen.thirkill@chad.co.uk or via Twitter @StephenThirkill.
